Indian Voting System

I always wished to write about our voting system. Even after so many years i havent been able to vote even a single time. In todays world where people study at one place and work at another place. There is no real permanent location. When it comes to decision making for a country, everyone says vote is very important. Whenver i tried to use that i never got a chance. They said i have to vote at my native place only where i carry a ration card. I can't understand how me being at a different place simply changes everything. I wish they give us a single card like pan card which allows me to vote from any where in India. May be it can be considered as from my native place. But atleast system should be in place to allow that. In US if you cant go to the voting place they send you that by mail and you can post it back. I thought that also works. If the system is not centralized they should atleast follow this. Again the bureacacy comes in picture. And i know that will not allow even a single step. Finally ends up people like us not voting for a long long time. I am sure its not only me but many others who are like me who are deprived of this.I hope some day system will change and it will allow voting from any place in INDIA. May be online or through counter like Railway reservation system.
